What you will be able to do
Calibrate a camera from one engraved dot, line it up with the bed, and check the result with a number instead of a feeling.
The lessons, in order
8Each one assumes the one before it. Marking them off is kept in this browser only, so there is nothing to sign in to.
1
Set up the camera, start to finish
A camera lets you put a design exactly on a piece of scrap, an odd offcut, or something already printed.
2
Calibrate from one dot
One engraved dot is enough: the machine moves the head, watches how the dot travels through the picture, and works out…
3
Teach the app your lens
Every lens bends the picture a little, and a wide one bends it a lot.
4
Line the camera up with the bed
This works out where the camera is looking, so a design placed on the picture lands in the same place on the machine.
5
Check camera accuracy
Every step can look right and the whole can still be off.
6
Check size reading
A camera can be lined up and still read sizes wrong, and every placed design inherits the error.
7
Fine tune, if it is close but not on
For when the picture is close to right but not quite on.
8
Measure the gap between heads
Two heads cut the same job one gap apart, and every two-head job needs that gap to the tenth of a millimetre.
