Setting up the cameraLesson 3 of 8
Teach the app your lens
Every lens bends the picture a little, and a wide one bends it a lot. This measures how much, so the app can straighten it out. Once per camera.
Print the card at 100 percent, no scaling, and glue it to card or a clipboard. A card that bows makes the app measure the bow instead of the lens.
Hold the card in front of the camera and press Capture. The app tells you how many marker squares it can read.
Move the card to a different part of the picture and capture again, until all nine areas are filled. This is the step that decides whether the corners of the picture come out right, and skipping it leaves the middle looking perfect while the edges are wrong.
Tilt the card toward the lens for at least one capture. Held flat on, the app cannot tell a small card up close from a big one further away, and it will not warn you.
You get two pictures to choose from. Pick the one where the lines look straight, in the corners as well as the middle.
