Tag maker

A pet tag, a keyring, a gift label and a door sign are the same object: a blank, some words inside it, and a hole. So the blank is a setting, not a tool of its own. Fifteen of them, or a shape you drew.

1

Pick the blank. Some carry their own detail, like the pads of a paw, which are scored onto the face rather than cut, and some say where words are allowed: on a paw that is the big pad, not the toes.

2

The hanging hole is set INTO the tag, not welded on top of it. It walks down the middle until the wood you asked for fits all the way round, so a star or a heart gets its hole under the point instead of through it.

3

Each line of words is fitted to how wide the blank is where it sits, kept clear of the hole, and held within a set multiple of the smallest line so it reads as one name and not a ransom note.
