Name ornament
Family ornaments and name tags. The shape is not drawn round the names: it IS the names, each one sized so the stack of them makes the shape. Everything comes off the bed in one piece.
Type the names, one per line, and pick what to pour them into: a tree, a circle, a bauble, a heart, or a shape you drew yourself.
Every name is scaled to the width the shape has where it sits, and the rows are stacked so they touch. On a tree that means they grow downward. A last line stays last, for a year or a surname.
It counts the parts and joins whatever is still loose. Add the loop it hangs by, and a backing layer to cut in a second colour behind it.

30What each number in the dialog means, and where it starts.
One name per line, or separated by commas
A last line that stays last whatever its length: a year, or a surname
The font they are cut in
Share of the letter height. Negative closes them up.
Short name on top, long one at the foot, so each is stretched least.
What the names are poured into, or a shape you drew.
A frame with each row hung off it. Off, the names are the shape.
How thick the frame is (mm)
How much bigger the biggest name may be than the smallest. 1 draws them all the same size.
Space between one name and the next (mm)
How wide the ornament is (mm)
How tall the ornament is (mm)
Clear space kept inside the edge (mm)
The most one name may be blown up, so a short one is not a slab.
How far each row bites into the one below (mm). Without a frame this is what welds the lines together.
Fattens every stroke before joining, so touching letters need no bar.
Add bars wherever it would otherwise fall apart
How wide a bar is (mm)
The longest gap worth bridging (mm)
Add the loop it hangs by
Width of the loop (mm)
Hole in the loop (mm). Big enough for the ribbon.
Run a bar from each end of every name out to the frame, so nothing hangs by one tab
Cut a backing layer too, a grown copy for a second colour behind it
How far the backing stands out all round (mm)
Engrave it instead of cutting it out
Layer for the ornament
Layer for the backing
Left edge (mm)
Top edge (mm)
What it is
Names set inside a frame and cut as one piece. Fifteen blanks to choose from, the tiered family tree among them, or a shape you drew.
