Making things that fit togetherLesson 7 of 16
Drawer box
A case with drawers is a lot of panels to keep straight, and they only work if they were all worked out from the same numbers. This cuts the case, the shelves and a tray for every drawer in one go.
Type the outside of the case and how many drawers. They divide the inside evenly, and the shelves take their thickness out of it.
Each shelf's tabs pass through the sides and finish flush with the outside. The slots are cut to match, so a shelf drops in and holds the case square.
Everything lands on the sheet together: five case panels, a shelf between each pair of drawers, and a tray for each one.

Beam width. Panels grow half a kerf, slots shrink one.
Gap so the drawer slides. Too little binds, too much rattles.
Finger hole in the drawer front. 0 for none.
Raises the floor so the case stands on its walls, not on its base.
Rounds inside corners so a square tab seats fully.

What it is
Type the outside size and how many drawers, and get the case, the shelves between the drawers and a tray for each one, laid out ready to cut. Sizes are the outside of the case.
