Making things that fit togetherLesson 9 of 16
Curved box
Four flat panels give you four square corners. Cutting the corners into slats lets one strip go round all of them, so the box comes out rounded and there is one seam instead of four.
Set the size and how round the corners are. A bigger radius bends more gently and is kinder to the material.
The corners are cut into slats so the strip bends there. The straight runs are left solid, which is where the tabs into the base go.
One long wall and a base. The wall is cut to the length it will be once it is bent, measured through the middle of the material.

13What each number in the dialog means, and where it starts.
Outside width in millimetres
Outside depth in millimetres
Outside height in millimetres
Bigger bends more gently. Smaller risks cracking.
Material thickness in millimetres
Length of each tab into the base
Beam width. Slots shrink by one so the burn lands on size.
Length of each cut in the bending corners
Material between cuts. Less bends easier and breaks easier.
Gap between one row of cuts and the next
Sheet width the panels are laid out on
Sheet height the panels are laid out on
What it is
A box with rounded corners, made from one wall bent round instead of four panels joined. The corners are kerfed so the wood bends. Type the size and the corner radius.
